Anatomy and Physiology for Paramedics

  • Specifically designed to introduce the fundamental terminology, structure and function of the human body.
  • Main emphasis on the major organ systems and their association with health and disease.
  • Basic understanding of pathophysiology and the disease process as it applies to pre-hospital emergency care.
  • Developed for students who will be taking the HVA EMS Education Paramedic course.
  • May be taken at the same time as the EMT course.
  • Now available as a blended online course (a combination of online learning, followed by hands-on practice in the classroom).

NOTE: The Anatomy & Physiology course is a prerequisite for our Paramedic course. All students applying for our Paramedic course will be required to successfully complete this course with a C or higher.

Students may also submit an official transcript from another college or university to fulfill this requirement. The A&P course must be at least 4 credit hours with a lab to be considered as a prerequisite for the Paramedic course.
