Abraham Paternoster has been a dedicated employee of Huron Valley Ambulance since 2020. Originally joining our team as a Mobility Transportation Driver, Abraham worked his way through EMT, AEMT, and paramedic school, earning his paramedic license in 2022. Shortly after this accomplishment, Abraham was promoted to Senior Paramedic, and most recently, he was promoted to Field Training Officer, where he uses his knowledge and experience to mentor new employees. In addition to serving as a paramedic and FTO, Abraham is part of HVA’s HAZMAT and Special Pathogen Response teams, using his skills to provide patient care in complex and involved situations. His growth as a provider over the past six years has been impressive and makes him a stand-out employee.

Abraham is well-known for his positive, easygoing, and professional personality. His friendly demeanor and the respect he shows to everyone he meets make him well-liked by his peers and patients alike. A natural leader, Abraham is a positive role model for his coworkers and an excellent mentor for students and new employees in training. He pushes his mentees to be the best they can and not settle for anything less. His innate positivity and desire to continue learning are two traits that make him a strong mentor. Abraham is a motivated self-learner, always seeking to improve his own knowledge and learn from other experienced providers.

Abraham’s reputation extends beyond his relationship with his peers to his patient care as well. He is known as an excellent medic who provides high-quality care to all of his patients. His ability to handle complex situations while remaining calm, cool, and professional, even with the most critical of patients, allows him to navigate difficult situations while remaining focused on his patients’ needs. Abraham treats his patients with compassion, empathy, and respect, and he ensures their emotional well-being is addressed alongside their medical needs while they are in his care. 

Outside of work, Abraham loves spending time outdoors and has a variety of hobbies, including wilderness survival training, hiking, backpacking, dispersed camping, and ultimate frisbee. He also has a goal of completing his first half-marathon this fall.
