Julianna Votava has served with LifeCare Ambulance since 2021. Initially joining our organization as an EMT, she has worked her way up through the ranks, earning her paramedic license and, in 2023, was promoted to Senior Paramedic. During her time with LifeCare, Julianna has demonstrated a strong interest in mentoring new employees and supporting her coworkers, and as a result, she was promoted to Field Training Officer in 2025.

In addition to supporting new employees, Julianna has been instrumental in developing monthly training topics and ensuring compliance with required protocols and procedures. One of LifeCare’s most involved FTOs, she is passionate about helping her coworkers develop their skills and serve as confident, prepared providers. Julianna is also known for her compassionate nature, offering warmth and empathy to both her patients and her coworkers. Never one to shy away from difficult calls or situations, Julianna makes herself available to coworkers who need to talk or decompress after a hard call.

A shining moment in Julianna’s career was her response to a large-scale tornado in Union City, Michigan, in the spring of 2026. Julianna, along with EMT Andrew Ragain, was dispatched to what was initially thought to be a single home collapse in the aftermath of the tornado. Julinna and Andy were the first ambulance on scene, and upon arrival, found that an entire neighborhood had been directly in the path of the storm and was completely destroyed. The crew immediately  took action, notifying dispatch of the need for an escalated response, establishing scene command, and setting up triage. After beginning search and rescue and determining the number of patients, they efficiently handled triage and coordinated patient transport. Along with many other providers, Julianna and Andy remained on scene until County Emergency Management established command, ensuring all patients were appropriately treated and transported. Thanks to their exceptional response and scene management, this chaotic situation resulted in the best possible outcome. 

Outside of work, Julianna loves spending time with her husband, Carter, who is also a paramedic at LifeCare, and she is very involved with her church, currently serving on the worship team.
