Emergency Call Taker, Emergent Health Partners
Sophia Dangerfield joined the Emergent Health Partners Communications Center in 2023 as a Non-Emergent Dispatcher. She moved quickly through Emergency Call Taker training, demonstrating her exceptional learning abilities and strong grasp of the role. Over her two years in the Communications Center, Sophia has consistently demonstrated a high level of skill and dedication, becoming an irreplaceable asset to our team. As one of our long-serving emergent call takers, she not only manages high-stress situations with ease but also sets the standard for 911 call takers through her in-depth knowledge of the ProQA program and a commitment to ongoing training.
Sophia’s ability to anticipate the needs of System Controllers and complete tasks without prompt ensures smooth operations during critical incidents such as MABAS activations and MCIs, especially during challenging times like inclement weather or an influx of calls. Her teamwork, leadership, and reliability are unmatched, and she frequently goes above and beyond to assist her colleagues, providing guidance to other call takers and EMT students.
Sophia takes great initiative in mentoring new EMTs and paramedics during their dispatch “third rides.” Her ability to effectively explain the dispatch process to new road employees and support a positive learning environment has significantly contributed to our Communications Department’s success.
Beyond her technical skills, Sophia brings a positive, approachable, and supportive attitude to the Communications Center each day, lifting the entire team’s morale. Sophia’s commitment to excellent customer service is evident in all she does, and she fosters a welcoming and upbeat atmosphere for coworkers and healthcare partners alike.
Outside of work, Sophia spends most of her free time taking care of her two-year-old son and takes joy in being a mother. With the bit of free time she has left outside of work and parenting, she enjoys crafting.
Sophia, your contributions to our team are invaluable. Your training and guidance have already impacted so many careers, and your efforts have the potential to help shape the next generation of call takers. You are an integral part of our 911 system, and you make us stronger as a team and an EMS agency. Thank you for all you do! We are proud to name you Star of Life.
