This is an asynchronous program with virtual lecture options, independent online coursework and in-person labs.
The first day of class is a mandatory in-person day. All students must report to Ann Arbor for the first day of class.
All lab sessions are mandatory and in-person.
Students can choose from two lab options:
Occasionally, Saturday lab dates may be required and will be announced after the start of class.

The HVA Center for EMS Education EMT course is a 16-week program that prepares students to take the National Registry Exam, obtain EMT licensure, and serve as a compentent EMT in the field. Our EMT course is approved by the MDHHS Division of EMS and Trauma.
During this 16-week course, students will learn the required skills to successfully obtain an EMT license and serve as an EMT. The curriculum covers:
Our EMT program is a 16-week course totaling 280 classwork, lab, and clinical hours.
+ Coursework: Students will complete weekly online coursework. Students are required to stay up-to-date on assigned work and the course schedule.
+ Labs: The labs are hands-on learning experiences completed with modern equipment that is used on BLS ambulances today.

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a first responder and medical provider.
EMTs respond to 911 calls and provide out-of-hospital emergency care and life-saving interventions to sick and hurt individuals. EMTs also transport patients by ambulance from the scene of an emergency to a healthcare facility.
EMT is licensed to provide basic medical care and transportation by ambulance, this is the level of licensure required to begin a career in EMS.
